When the internationally renowned Gagosian Gallery sought to refurbish its Britannia Street location, West & West were entrusted with a project that balanced artistry with engineering precision. The gallery, a sanctuary for contemporary art, required not only functional office spaces but a seamless integration of modern infrastructure that would preserve the gallery’s minimalist aesthetic.

Our team undertook extensive alterations to create additional office spaces on the ground floor, including a sophisticated new reception area. The challenge was clear: to ensure that the electrical systems remained invisible to the eye, yet entirely reliable and robust, so as not to detract from the gallery’s sleek and open design. To achieve this, all cabling was meticulously concealed within the fabric of the building, maintaining the uninterrupted flow and elegance for which Gagosian is known.

West & West delivered a comprehensive electrical installation package, comprising electrical distribution, containment systems, small power, general and emergency lighting, as well as data installations and lighting controls. The installation of an advanced earthing and bonding system ensured that safety matched the gallery’s demanding operational standards.

At every stage, our engineers worked closely with the gallery’s designers to harmonise technology with the artistic vision. The result? A space that is as functional as it is visually stunning—where cutting-edge electrical work serves as the unseen backbone of a world-class gallery.
